Hello there, I am Sophia
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in New York, United States.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-range plan. As with many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning through doing. Yet gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created DeltaSwellHaven
Most information online fell into two camps: corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was candid, everyday family insight.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from residing in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the content remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers,
Sophia
